Under construction. Ski Tower features an external grid made of composite stone olivine material that stores CO2.

The building process for Ski Tower for Solon Eiendom is going full speed an approximately 20 minute train ride out of Oslo, Norway’s capital. What is becoming a whole new residential neighborhood called Magasinparked is about to take shape. Ski Tower is rising up next to tree other high rises designed by the three Norwegian architectural companies R21, Code and Reiulf Ramstad Architects.

We are excited to see how the external grid that wraps itself around the façade will look and function. The idea was to create a skeleton of a new composite stone olivine material that stores CO2. The space between this grid and the walls gave room for designing outdoor spaces that are withdrawn and almost hidden behind the grid. In addition to being recyclable, this composite material will improve the air quality on these private balconies. The overall organic formation, with round corners and a greenish color, will further enhance the natural feeling when the balconies come to life with flowers and plants.
