Nardoveien
Our proposal is guided by three core principles: creating a true sense of home, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding neighborhood, and ensuring long-term social and economic sustainability. Central to all three is the design of inclusive meeting places that encourage interaction and help reduce loneliness among residents.

Site and Context
The site is strategically located near Gløshaugen campus, recreational areas at Nissekollen, and existing student housing at Moholt and Berg. Its position within established pedestrian and cycling networks offers strong connectivity, which we aim to enhance further. While the area benefits from views, sunlight, and existing vegetation, it also presents challenges such as traffic noise and a fragmented urban structure.
Design Approach
We propose a student “village” composed of eight buildings arranged to form two distinct outdoor spaces. One is open, social, and publicly accessible, featuring pathways and shared functions that invite activity. The other is a quieter, more private garden exclusively for residents. The layout balances openness with protection, reducing noise exposure while optimizing sunlight.
The buildings range from five to eight stories, with varied heights and materials to create a human-scale environment that reflects the surrounding neighborhood. This approach also maximizes light conditions and strengthens the project’s identity.'
Living Experience
The design emphasizes both privacy and community. Apartments are thoughtfully planned to feel like true homes, while shared spaces—such as entrances, kitchens, lounges, and outdoor areas—encourage spontaneous social interaction. These spaces are positioned naturally along daily pathways, making them accessible and welcoming.
Sustainability and Identity
Reused materials and durable, simple finishes contribute to a sustainable and distinctive character. Each building has its own identity, helping residents navigate and feel a sense of belonging. Together, these elements create a vibrant, inclusive, and future-oriented student community.
