Design with reuse
What does it actually means for an architect to design a solution based on reuse? The questions that arise in a process like this range from what expectations do we have of reuse and recycling in the design process, to what kind of aesthetic leeway do you have as a professional, and what kind of atmospheres can you help to create?
The exhibition design for Oslo Design Fair`s Tendency exhibition was called “Elements”. The foundation for this exhibition was a strong concept that created a common thread in the exhibition regardless of the materials used. This resulted in a framework that was flexible for adjustments along the way. The exhibition was not about the materials themselves, but about how to create solutions that are flexible enough to work with the reuse of a number of different types of materials. In other words, the solution the visitors experienced was an alternative based on the materials available at the time, combined with carefully curated products by stylist Kirsten Visdal.
Inside and out
Imagine living in an unspoilt natural setting, close to the water and hiking trails just outside your front door. The apartments in the Veslebukta project are spread over three buildings to the west of the site. Facing the idyllic Kolbotnvannet lake on one side and the neighbouring Storebukta project on the other, all the apartments have large balconies, roof terraces or ground terraces. Daylight floods into the apartments, where the various rooms are organised to allow for great variation in the choice of zones and furnishing solutions.
