New Premises and a New Era for A-lab

New A-Lab Office

New A-Lab Office -

It started with two eager founders in an attic apartment in Frogner in Oslo who had wild ideas and big ambitions. When Dark  moved to Drammensveien 130, the architecture laboratory followed with the load. Since then, the growing pains have been palpable. As one of the Nordic region's largest independent architectural offices, A-lab had long since grown out of the co-location with Dark, and the employees were spread over two locations in the old industrial buildings at Skøyen. The time was ripe to "move away from home", and A-lab initiated its largest internal investment ever when they chose to move to new premises across the road in Drammensveien 130, entrance B12.

The nearly 130 employees are now spread over 3,500 square meters in an open office landscape interspersed with a myriad of creative meeting rooms. This first week, architects, landscape architects, interior designers, urban planners, visual designers and social scientists are getting to know their new workspace as they unpack their boxes. For the two founders Odd Klev and Geir Haaversen, it is difficult to conceal their smiles. There is nothing better for creative productivity and innovation than sitting together, physically.
