Filipstad update

Initiating planning process in the works

We finally sent over the initiation notice for starting of the planning process for Filipstad! On behalf of HAV Eiendom, we and Asplan Viak worked on the proposal for the old dock. The harbor site is the last piece, in making the fjord city complete and even more accessible to people. Filipstad has been the home of different functions - dock, a public swimming site and coffee roasting, and now a new borough. The new chapter of Filipstad will entail more residential housing, urban spaces of top notch quality and a new plan for mobilization. The old coffee roaster tower will be an icon from the past and revitalized with new functions. With the completion of the fjord city belt, Filipstad will also be better connected to city.

Tucked between Bygdøykilen and Tjuvholmen, Filipstad is surrounded by a train terminal for goods and the E18 runs through it. Today Filipstad is a place with somewhat of an unclear profile. The large logistic setup and the ferry infrastructure makes it not very pedestrian friendly. However, on the east side closer to Tjuvholmen, is perhaps a taste of how vibrant this whole area can become. The stretch towards Tjuvholmen offers a large light installation which draws many visitors, outdoor exercise equipment, an indoor skating park and a sunny park.
